Virtual WAVE Environment

What is the WAVE Sandbox? A WAVE domain installed on the Internet that provides partners and customers with an opportunity to experience the power of unified group communications with a simple VPN connection from anywhere in the world. Complete with self paced labs, learn about our technology and experiment with a real, fully functional WAVE deployment.

Want to know more about our WAVE Dispatch Communicator? Do you want to better understand our telephony and radio integration features? Maybe you want to learn about our SDK to build your own applications. The WAVE Sandbox provides you with the environment and tools to learn our technology, build your applications, and demonstrate WAVE to your colleagues.

Connecting to the WAVE Sandbox

To start, download this ZIP archive to configure your computer and connect to the WAVE Sandbox. Once you have configured and you are connected to the WAVE Sandbox, you can use the documents below to learn more about the WAVE Communicators and the WAVE SDK.

Dispatch Communicator

The WAVE Dispatch Communicator is a powerful software console for dispatch and command and control operations, which enables operators to patch together users, groups and agencies, select and unselect audio, monitor conversations, and view user status and presence. The WAVE Dispatch Communicator runs on a standard Windows PC or laptop, supports touch-screens, provides telephony features, and is flexible enough for use in dispatch centers, tactical units, and remote locations. Learn more about the Dispatch Communicator and how to use it by reading the WAVE Dispatch Communicator User Guide.

Desktop Communicator

The WAVE Desktop Communicator gives PC users a rich interface for interoperable group communications by enabling PC integration with any two-way radio, hoot network, landline phone, mobile phone, or connected PDA. WAVE Desktop Communicator users can join multiple talk groups, view user status and presence information, send instant messages, and generate specialized radio tones.

The WAVE Desktop Communicator runs in a web browser or as a standard Windows application, works over a LAN, and extends your communications to remote and mobile users with VPN access. Learn more about the Desktop Communicator and how to use it by reading the WAVE Desktop Communicator User Guide.

WAVE SDK

A software toolkit for developers, the WAVE SDK has been designed help Solution Developer partners build interoperable communications solutions that meet specific customer needs - from financial intercom systems to radio comparator interfaces to secure - military communications clients.

The WAVE SDK provides programming interfaces to the communications functions developers use everyday. Your developers can use the WAVE SDK to create custom client applications that bring WAVE communications directly onto your customers' desktops.

Incorporate WAVE within your current applications to build a fully-integrated, robust solution architecture. You can learn more by examining and running the WAVE SDK Sample Applications. This application shows developers how to use all the major APIs in the WAVE SDK and is fully commented to explain methods and design of the application and the SDK. Within the course of 2-3 hours, a developer can learn about the SDK, the development effort required to build a WAVE powered solution and market opportunity for this technology.

To configure the WAVE SDK Sample Application to run with Eclipse, read this document.

Once you have the WAVE SDK Sample Application running, you can learn more about how it works by walking through the self-paced lab, Overview of the WAVE SDK Sample Application and reading about the APIs in the WAVE SDK in Getting Started with the WAVE SDK.

As you work with the WAVE SDK and have any questions, visit the WAVE Developer Discussion Forum.
