Public Safety

Ensuring Interoperable, Real-time Group Communications for First Responders

First-responder organizations need secure, real-time communications, yet fire, police, emergency medical, rescue, public health, and defense organizations may have different radios, from multiple manufacturers, running on separate frequencies - all of which can hamper communications efforts.

While it may be possible to increase and standardize radio frequency spectrum allocations for public safety organizations, upgrade or replace incompatible radio systems, or develop and enforce new communications standards, none of these solutions provide answers for public safety organizations with funding constraints and the need for communications interoperability today. The answer is WAVE from Twisted Pair Solutions.

WAVE is a software application suite that manages secure, real-time group communications over the IP network, and with WAVE for LMRTM, you can enable interoperable communications over any type of two-way radio, phone, or PC.

Importantly, WAVE has undergone rigorous testing to ensure dependability under extreme conditions. WAVE meets U.S. Department of Homeland Security requirements for interoperability and integration, and is used worldwide by critical facilities, public safety, and defense agencies with the most stringent security requirements.

WAVE Components at a Glance
  • The WAVE Management Server configures and administers a WAVE system
  • The WAVE Media Server is WAVE's media processing engine.
  • The WAVE Desktop CommunicatorTM lets users access a Channel from a PC. It can run in a web browser.
  • The WAVE Dispatch CommunicatorTM is used by radio dispatchers to manage multiple simultaneous conversations.
  • WAVE Channels represent logical groupings of devices. Channels are stable structures created when the system is initially configured.
  • WAVE Sessions tie other WAVE components together to perform a specific function. Sessions live on Media Servers and may be created on the fly.
