Twisted Pair Solutions, Inc. Announces Major New Product Release, WAVE 2.0, with Public Safety Interoperability
OPSCAN is the first project in the US to follow the interoperability guidelines set forth by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), whose $5.8M grant is funding this project. WAVE 2.0 will enable over 40 separate agencies to communicate with each other without the need for expensive new radios or proprietary hardware. WAVE 2.0's interoperability software solution uses open standards and the common and pervasive IP network to achieve interoperability quickly and cost effectively.
"As part of the OPSCAN project, we felt that WAVE was the best fit to help us enhance public safety communications. By using IP to tie legacy radio systems together for interoperability, we are able to increase communications between first responders using disparate radio systems and frequency bands. The IP platform also allows for migration to future technologies, without locking us into any one specific vendor or protocol," said Sheriff Joe Martin of Clallam County and OPSCAN Project Manager.
With the newest version, WAVE 2.0 (Wide Area Voice Environment®) customers are no longer tied to proprietary radio, hardware, gateway or router solutions that increase cost and limit flexibility. WAVE 2.0 is an open standards-based software solution built on IP that enables customers to get more from their existing technology investments while enjoying interoperable group communications. Public safety agencies, defense organizations, and financial services institutions worldwide will enjoy the low total cost of ownership an open standards based software solution can deliver for group communications.
"We are delivering on the promise of the common IP platform. WAVE 2.0 lets our partners and customers enjoy the low total cost of ownership that comes with the flexibility of software and IP based communications. Whether our customers want to use mixed radio networks including P25 and non-P25 radios, deploy financial hoots to Windows® based PCs, or deploy highly reliable tactical radio networks in harsh field environments, WAVE 2.0 can do it with minimal hardware investment and quick deployment and set up times." said Shaun Botha, President and CTO of Twisted Pair Solutions.
Designed to increase collaboration, manageability, and reliability, WAVE 2.0 now includes presence and status of all users including any two way radio, Active Directory® integration, text messaging, real time monitoring, and standardized reporting among many other features.
WAVE 2.0 is being deployed by ARINC at OPSCAN as a part of their AWINS solution. AWINS is a turnkey Voice over IP solution targeted at public safety agencies.
"We have been very impressed with WAVE 2.0's new capabilities and are now deploying it in Port Angeles, the Clallam County seat. We have found that many agencies have mixed radio, gateway, and router networks and WAVE is an elegant solution for interoperability across different spectrums, technologies, infrastructure and devices." said Marvin Ingram, Senior Director ARINC Public & Enterprise Solutions.
