![]() Twisted Pair Solutions Participates in DHS VoIP Interoperability Demonstration“The lack of a clear standard for unifying bridging systems technologies from multiple vendors has long been recognized as a major barrier to a broader deployment of software-based group communications technology by States, regional emergency management agencies and first responder organizations,” says Shaun Botha, Twisted Pair’s Co-Founder and CTO. "Now that the industry has a ratified standard for systems interoperability, potential users can proceed confidently with their interoperability projects." Faced with a multitude of proprietary hardware and software interfaces that hampered interoperability planning and deployment, a SIP-based standard for bridging systems was considered one of the highest priorities by SAFECOM, a communications program of the Department of Homeland Security. The Office of Law Enforcement Standards (OLES) helped form the VoIP Working Group within SAFECOM and partnered with NIST to ensure that the VoIP Working Group could prepare an expansive draft standard for ratification. The BSI specification, prepared initially by Twisted Pair Solutions and developed further in partnership with Cisco Systems, is now considered a complete document and will be published as a NIST report. The report will be available on several government websites and will be used as a guidance document for State interoperability plans and fund requests. In its July 2007 Program Guidance and Application Kit entitled ‘Public Safety Interoperable Communications Grant Program’ the US Departments of Homeland Security and Commerce stated that advanced technologies such as IP-based software solutions should be considered when requesting funds. Twisted Pair Solutions recently shipped WAVE 3.0, the latest version of its widely deployed and proven unified group communications software. With feature enhancements that significantly improve the ease and speed of deployment, operational resiliency and the security of mission-critical group communications networks, WAVE 3.0 is highly focused on the needs of defense and civilian government agencies, public safety and emergency management groups and large commercial operators in transportation, energy and finance. About Twisted Pair Solutions, Inc.Twisted Pair Solution's award-winning WAVE software technology enables partners and customers to build and operate secure, highly scalable communications solutions in the world's most demanding IT environments.
