Hospitality
Many of the world’s largest and most prestigious hotel and casino brands wrestle daily with a diverse and complex communications infrastructure made up from a multitude of new and older technologies, manufacturers and devices that were never intended or designed to work together. Modern IP telephony systems, as well their analog predecessors, work perfectly well for quest accommodations and back office staff, but they do not interoperate with two-way radio systems, intercoms and paging systems commonly used to communicate to, and with a highly mobile service, support and security staff. The challenge for hotel operators is to identify new technology that can improve their operating efficiency and bottom line quickly and measurably, without incurring excessive initial set-up and operating costs.
An Industry under Pressure
The hospitality industry has seen great change in recent years, with occupancy and room rates peaking in 2002 and now falling to an expected all time low in 2009-2010. Stiff competition, price wars and slim profits under the weight of a ballooning supply of rooms is threatening the performance of many of the world’s largest and most successful brands. In prior years, when hotels could support a larger staff, customer service was focused more on human involvement than technology enablement. Today, new technology and employee operating practices are helping hotels to operate more cost-effectively while maintaining a consistent brand experience for their paying guests.
Many hotel employees and outsourced personnel are forced to carry
multiple devices in order to operate and collaborate more effectively.
But for many hotels and hospitality chains, this growing awareness of the value of modem, integrated systems has not resulted in significant efforts to take advantage of them as fully as they might. Capital expenditures have been substantially reduced and any remaining budget for IT projects carries an almost immediate demand for a return on investment. Major hardware upgrades to telephony and wireless networks, for example, are shunned because of the high initial cost and a requirement to maintain staff that can operate and maintain them.
WAVE Software is the Affordable Solution
WAVE software technology leverages IP to radically improve on the effectiveness and efficiency of expansive hotel operations by creating a converged, interoperable communication environment that removes the need for employees and suppliers to carry multiple devices. WAVE can extend the reach of existing systems and allow them to interoperable with others, all from a centralized dispatch center that costs less to operate while achieving more.
