Ensuring Interoperable, Real-time Group Communications for Strategic, Tactical, Joint, and Coalition Forces

As military missions have grown more complex, robust communications links have become crucial. Tactical units must be able to communicate with nearby forces on land, at sea, and in the air. WAVE is a software application suite that manages secure, real-time group communications over the IP network, and with WAVE for LMR^TM, you can enable interoperable communications over any audio source - including two-way radios, phones, PCs and connected PDAs. On modern battlefields, battalions may be deployed outside of radio range. With typical radio-based solutions, this means that one or more retransmission facilities must be located between units, and these retransmission facilities must be staffed, guarded, and re-supplied. WAVE eliminates the need for intermediate retransmission, however, by routing radio communications over IP and connecting units directly over the network. • The WAVE Management Server configures and administers a WAVE system
• The WAVE Media Server is WAVE's media processing engine.
• The WAVE Desktop Communicator^TM lets users access a Channel from a PC. It can run in a web browser.
• The WAVE Dispatch Communicator^TM is used by radio dispatchers to manage multiple simultaneous conversations.
• WAVE Channels represent logical groupings of devices. Channels are stable structures created when the system is initially configured.
• WAVE Sessions tie other WAVE components together to perform a specific function. Sessions live on Media Servers and may be created on the fly.
